Important Notice From Chelan County PUD: Ongoing and Intermittent Fiber Outage Issues

We are currently addressing intermittent and random fiber outages caused by specific equipment in the field. Approximately 18% of customer-owners subscribing to broadband services using PUD infrastructure may be affected. While not all customers with this equipment are experiencing issues, if you are, please follow the steps below. For assistance, reach out to your internet service provider.

They have started a project to replace those boxes with new models and they will continue that work until all of them have been replaced. LocalTel is committed to aiding them in expediting that project in any way we can. If you are on fiber in Chelan county and your service is down, you may be able to restore the service by rebooting your fiber box.

To reboot your fiber box you first need to locate your battery backup which is about an 8 inch by 12 inch beige box that says Cyber Power, APC power shield or Precision Power on it. It is often mounted in a garage but may also be on an interior wall on the other side of the fiber box. It may also be an outdoor unit mounted near the fiber box and connecting to outdoor power. When you locate it you'll need to unplug it from power and leave it unplugged for a full 2 minutes and then plug it back in. It may take up to 10 minutes for all services to restore after the reboot.
